Alex G is one of my favorite Temple dropouts (coming from a Temple Student). His concert at the Fillmore was electric, with the lighting being a highlight. For starters, the crowd was filled with the weirdest group of people I have ever seen. As I walked up to the front to start shooting, every person looked slightly different. He opened with Louisiana with dramatic backlighting, going into Gretel, followed by June Guitar. June Guitar was a highlight as he brought out an accordion. Did I know Alex G played the accordion? No. Was I dumbfounded? Yes.
Aside from the accordion, the show was filled with highlights like a cover of "Monster Mash” and their song “Kute”. Philly night one got lucky with the encores, with the band playing most of their hits from the 2012 album “Trick”. “Sarah”, “Mary”, and “Gnaw” are three of my personal favorites.
The lighting was fantastic and dynamic, with each song having a different feeling. I’m grateful I was there to experience it.
