The Baltimore based pop punk band Pinkshift is one of the recent most talked about bands. They just wrapped their 5 Year Anniversary tour in Philly on August 27th at the Ukie Club. This was a chance for the fans to see them live before they set out for the show in India with one and only Foo Fighters. Coming back to the show in Philly - it features 2 other Phully bands - Hit Like a Girl and Kulfi Girls. The night started with a power packed performance by Hit Like a Girl - a indie Pop punk project led by Nicolle Maroulis. They literally came into to audiance while the perfoamce and it was a great start of the night. Kulfi girls was the next act. Even though there was some technical difficulties the set was absolutely flawsell and full of energy. The music is a blend of Indian classical elements - especially with the use of Veena and pure Rock music. They performed songs from their album Divinity - and the music and the energy was contagious to the audiance. Finally it was time for Pinkshift and for the next hour it was non stop entertainment for the fans. Ashrita on vocals was not just a powerhouse, but in between the songs she did not shy away from talking about things that are important for this day and age - from politics to environment. The band performed songs after song and the fans also contributed with the vocals in most of the songs. The setlist consisted of songs like - “Anita Ride”, “Something More”, “I’m gonna tell my therapist on You”. It was the perfect show on a rainy night and a big shoutout to the management and organizers for the successful execution.
