The Summer Slaughter tour is known to the metal community for featuring various sub-genres of Metal. Since 2007, the tour has featured the best of the heavy metal legends. This year was a stacked lineup with the headliner Hatebreed, and on July 20th, the stop was in Philadelphia at the Union Transfer. The night started with the Brutal death metal band 9 Dead, the thrash metal band from Phoenix Incite, and the Bay Area death metal band Snuffed on Sight. Next was Gridion with a genre blending sound of hardcore and rap. their new album, “Poetry from Pain” is out, and they performed songs from the new album. The energy of the band was perfect as the night was getting close to the end. Fugitive was next with thier old school thrash metal sound. It was great to see how a band celebrates the genre with its glory and masters it. They performed some of their known songs like - “The Javelin”, “Blast Furnace”, and “Hell’s Half Acre”. Finally, the stage was cleared and a big giant figure was set up to indicate the arrival of the headliner - Hatebreed. The band that blends Hardcore Punk with metalcore has a cult following. Jamey Jasta on Vocals, Matt Byrne on the drums, Frank Novinec on the Rhythm guitar, and the touring members of the band - Matt Bachand on the lead guitar and Carl Schwarts on the bass did what they do best. It was an extreme dominance of the stage wqith white smoke coming out from the background as the beat dropps. The setlist cosisted of songs from 2 of their major albums - “Perseverance” and “Satisfaction is the Death of Desire” and some more. It was an absolute treat for the audiance as they moshed at the circle pit and their was a constant flow of clrowd surfers. Overall, it was a great show and big shoutout to the organizers, management and the venue for the successful execution.
