Simple Plan is celebrating 25 years with a North America tour called “Bigger Than You Think!” and to support them, there were Bowling for Soup, 3OH!3, and Lolo. It was a treat for any Pop Punk lovers, and on Aug 30th, the stop was at the Mann Center in Philly. Fans gathered before 6 PM to enjoy the night from the very first act - Lolo (Lauren Mandel). The newest star of the genre, who became a sensation through TikTok, made a great start to the night with some of her originals and some covers like Icona Pop’s “I Love It”. Next up was one of the icons of the genre, Bowling for Soup, and it was absolutely craziness (in a good way). Jaret Reddick on the Vocals and guitar, Rob Felicetti on the Bass, and Gary Wiseman on the drums were a treat to experience live. With hits like “Girls all the Bad guys want”, “1985”, and covers like “Stacy’s Mom”, it was a celebration of pure nostalgia. Then came 3Oh!3 to take the celebration to another level. All the fans knew the hand sign, and they greeted them with that. Sean and Nathaniel are pure energy, and with them joined 2 of the great artists - Marshall Gallagher on the guitar and Jess Bowen on the drums. It was a party at the Skyline stage with songs like - “DONT TRUST ME”, “STAR STRUKK”. Finally, the stage was made ready for the final act that everyone was waiting for - Simple Plan came on stage with smokes and confetti. It was amazing to see a band being together for so many years - Pierre Bouvier on the vocals, Chuck Comeau on drums, Jeff Stinco on lead guitar, and Sébastien Lefebvre on rhythm guitar. A set that had so many hits that the fans could not stop the celebration for the 90 minutes - “I’d Do Anything”, “Addicted”, “I’m Just a Kid”. They even did covers like “Sk8er Boi”, “Mr. Brightside”, and performed “Jet lag” alongside LOLO. The fans literally proved that Pop Punk has always been here to stay, and still the fans enjoy the genre like anything. Overall, it was a great night and kudos to management, organizers, and venue for successful efforts.
