It was a Hardcore fest in Philly on the night of Feb 23rd when Counterparts made a stop in Philly as part of their North American tour. Accompanying them on this tour are - Pain of Truth, Malevolence, and Foreign Hands. The audience was ready to start moshing and crowd-surf from the beginning of the show and so it happened. The night was kicked off by Foreign Hands - the band is a local name and it was a perfect start for the home crowd. The setlist consisted of songs like - “Conditioned For A Head-On Collision”, “Separation Souvenir”, and “Chlorine Tears”. After foreign hands, it was a foreign band came to the stage - Malevolance from England. The metalcore sound and the energy of the band trasported to the audience. The power-packed setlist consisted of - “Keep Your Distance”, “Trenches”, and “Life Sentence”. Next up it was Pain of Truth - one of the most prominent names of recent times from the NYC hardcore Punk scene. The band has an old-school hardcore charm not only with the sound but also the presence. There was a point where the crownsurfers kept on coming and it seemed like the pit does not exist any more. The band performed all their known songs like - “Lifeless on the Ground”, “You and Me” and “Actin’ Up”. Finally, the stage was set almost like a church-like feel with candles, wooden chairs, and glass windows - one of the most visible Canadian melodic hardcore bands Counterparts was on the stage. Brendan, Jesse, Tyler, and Kyle took control of the audience with the sound that defines them. The band’s setlist consisted of songs like - “A Martyr Left Alive”, “Love Me”, and “Whispers of Your Death”. Overall it was a great show and we highly recommend to catch them live in this tour. Finally a big shoutout to the Publicist, management, and organizers for successful execution of the show.
