The desert death metal band Gatecreeper headed out east of Arizona as part of their North America tour and on September 25th, the stop was in Philly. Texas Death Metal band Frozen Soul and Florida Doom Metal band Worm were the other 2 bands for this tour and it was a packed night at the Underground Arts. Worm started the night with as darkest it can be and it was perfect to set the mood for the audience. We have seen them live this year at the same venue and again they did not disappoint. With a melodic doom metal sound, they did bring the sword and blood to take things to the next level. Frozen Soul came next with a powerful presence to start off with the circle pit and stage surfing. We are encountering them again in Philly this year after the Fillmore show and the Texas band absolutely dominated the Philly audience. The setlist consisted of - “Crypt of Ice”, “Arsenal of War”, and “Glacial Domination”. A shout out to the band for the advocacy of mental health issues and addressing them. Finally, Gatecreeper came on the stage with no-nonsense pure, and heaviest death metal. It was mayhem with constant circle pits and moshing in the middle of the crowd. Chase Mason dominated Philly throughout the set that contained - “Caught in the Treads”, “The Black Curtain” (Do check out the music video if you have not yet), “Dead Star”, “Sick of Being Sober” and more.  The Old School sound of the band that has elements of Thrash truly prooves that they are one of the present flag bearer of the Death Metal genre and even Post Malone approves that by going to their show the next day in NYC. We highly recommend to catch them live for the rest of the tour. Kudos to the organizers, management, and publicist for the successful execution of the show.
