Killswitch Engage, one of the most iconic MetalCore bands is touring North America in very selective cities with Currents and Capra. We were lucky to catch them live at the Rams Head Live in Baltimore on April 10th. This was the first stop of the tour and after experiencing the show I am sure the tour is going to be an exciting one.
The Night started at 7 PM with Capra as the first act and they were perfect to set the tone for the night. Next up it was Currents on stage around 7:50 PM.  The band’s music is a mix of Djent with metal core. With heavy riffs and typical djent style of guitars, they were able to deliver some technically rich sound with an energy that was contagious to the audience. Brian Wille on vocals, Dave Pazik on the guitar, Christian Pulgarin on the Bass, and Matt Young on drums delivered a perfect and compact setlist that consisted of songs like - “A Flag to Wave”, “Better Days”, “Remember Me” and “So Alone”. It was a great performance that was almost a trailer for their Headlining show starting in May, which has a stop in Baltimore as well.
At 9 PM Killswitch Engage took the stage and the audience burst out with cheer. The band was full of energy on the first night of the tour. Adam Dutkiewicz on guitar was almost running through the stage, Mike D'Antonio on bass was headbanging on the front of the stage, Joel Stroetzel though stayed on the side but was delivering some powerful riffs, Justin Foley was literally destroying the drums and finally Jesse Leach on the vocals was doing what he does the best with his ultimate energy. The band is one of the best in the genre and it is just clear why they are. The show was no-nonsense pure music with a simple stage setup - the cover of their last album “Atonement” flying in the back. The almost 90 min setlist started with one of their biggest hits “My Curse”, and then followed some of the great songs like - “This Fire”, “In Due Time”, “The End of Heartache” and “My Last Serenade”.  They also performed “We Carry On” for the first time on stage.
It was an absolutely fabulous start to the tour and I highly suggest catching them live soon. Finally a shoutout to the management and organizer for the successful execution of the show.
