The Sep 6 night of Philadelphia was when we observed the legendary Supergorup Mr. Bungle perform at the Fillmore. Their Fall tour just started the day before in Baltimore and the fans rushed in to see them live because it is a rare event. Since the band’s reunion in 2020, it has been one of the biggest tours of the band with the support of experimental rock group battles. The night started around 8 PM with Battles. The duo Ian Williams and John Stanier showcased music that is truly experimental and the audience vibed with it. Ian with his guitar and keyboards was creating effects and loops and John with his powerful drumming was taking it to a whole different level. The setlist consisted of numbers like - “The Yabba”, “Ice Cream”, “Ambulance”, and “Atlas”. Next was Mr. Bungle with some legends on stage - Dave Lombardo on the Drums, Scott Ian on the guitars, Trey Sprunance on the lead guitar, Trevor Dunn on the bass, and Mike Patton on the vocals. If you put them on stage you know this night can not go wrong and the audience went crazy for the next 90 minutes. It was complete madness with fans crowdsurfing and moshing. Mike Patton in his own avatar is someone that anyone would just love to see him perform. They performed almost all the songs of their last album “The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo” but also some covers like - Stormtroopers of Death’s “Speak English or Die”, Circle Jerk’s “World Up My Ass”, Slayer’s “Hell Awaits” and 10cc’s romantic number “I’m Not in Love” (Who would have thought that). Overall it was a great show and I am sure everyone including myself was excited to see them perform live. finally, a shoutout to the management and organizers for the successful execution of the show.
