This is a really rare tour when English Post-Punk legends The Chameleons embark on a North American tour co-headlining with one of the new and talked about Dark Wave Duos from Texas, Twin Tribes. Out of the selected dates in North America, we were present in Ardmore, PA, to catch them live in action. The night was kicked off by Vandal Moon, which has Synth Pop music that blends nicely with New Wave. Right after them the stage was set for the Chameleons, and fans cheered their heart out. Vox on the bass and vocals, Stephen Rice and Reg Smithies on the guitar, Danny Ashberry on the keyboards, and Todd Demma on the drums - showed why they are still relevant even after almost 40 years. The band that inspired bands like Oasis, Verve, Interpol, or The Killers performed with some different levels of energy. The presence of Vox as the frontman was truly legendary. They performed all the hit songs, and the audience joined in for the songs like “Don’t Fall”, “Second Skin”, and “Swamp Thing”. Next up, the stage was cleared with just 2 Keyboards in the middle, indicating the arrival of the Twin Tribes. With the dark ambiance and the makeup and attire of the duo, it was a different kind of experience when they started playing the music. They switched from playing the keys to the guitar and the bass - the music was genre-blending with elements of Dark wave to gothic rock. The duo performed songs like “Shadows”, “Fantasmas”, and “Monolith”. Overall, it was a great night where different genres and music from different eras collided. A big shoutout to the management, organizers, and venue for the successful execution of the tour.
