Behemoth, one of the pioneers of the Polish death metal scene, is on its North American tour, “Godness IV”. On April 30th, the stop was at The Fillmore in Silver Springs, MD. The night was supported by 2 other iconic bands – New York Death Metal legend Immolation and Florida Death Metal giants Deicide. The night started with Immolation, and what a start it was. Reboert Vigna and Alex Bouks on the guitars, Ross Dolan on the Bass and vocals, Steve Shalaty on the drums started with absolute destruction with songs like – “Bend Towards the Darkness”, “Immolation”, “Adversary”. Then came Deicide on stage with their old school pure black metal presence that still resonates with the audience. Glen Benton on bass and vocals, Steve Asheim on drums, Taylor Nordberg, and Jadran Gonzalez on guitar performed their classic numbers like “Once upon the cross”, “When Satan rules his world”, and “Homage for Satan”. The stage was then cleared, and the setup was almost ritualistic with decorated mic stands and the backgrounds. Behemoth came on stage with their intricate attire and presence. Nergal took the front stage with his guitar, with Orion on bass and Seth on the guitar on both sides, and Inferno took the back elevated stage for the drums. One song after another, the energy of the room elevates, and that resonated with the constant crowd surfers. It is not usual for the American audience to encounter such big names from Europe, and Behemoth made sure to interact with the audience in the best way possible. They performed really famous songs like – “Ov fire and the void”, “Blow your trumpets Gabriel”, “O father O Satan O Sun!”. The grandeur of the performance was great to see at the venue. We highly recommend catching them live as the tour continues till the end of May. Finally, a big shoutout to the management, organizers, and the venue for the successful execution of the event.
