Big Thief brought their Somersault Slide 360 Tour to Philadelphia this month, selling out the Met Philly, and it was an unforgettable show. To begin the night, opener Lomelda gave the crowd a melodic performance, playing songs like “Hannah Sun” and “Wonder”.
After their set, Big Thief took the stage and gave an absolutely beautiful performance. When they arrived on the stage, the crowd went completely silent to enjoy the show. They began their set and captivated the audience with “Forgive the Dream”. The group had a strong setlist, consisting of new songs, like “Muscle Memory” and “Trade Tomorrow”, older tracks like “Shark Smile, Cattails, and of course “Vampire Empire”, and even songs from some of the members’ solo work, like Adrianne Lenker’s “Terminal Paradise” and Buck Meek’s “Making Words”.
The most memorable song of the night was their heavy and powerful performance of “Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe in You”, a version of the song that has not been performed yet on this tour and was incredible to see. The show eventually had to come to an end, and they concluded their set with “Spud Infinity”. This show was absolutely incredible. Big Thief gave the audience the most beautiful show, and is a band that everyone should try to see live.
