It was a Metal takeover at the Franklin Music Hall on September 17th when Death Metal legends Dying Fetus took the stage, accompanied by one of the most prominent names of the present Metal Scene, Sanguisugabogg, and another legend of the sludge metal genre, Crowbar. The bands are on their North American tour right now that will be going on till the end of October, touching all the major cities. Crowbar absolutely crushed the set with pure Sludge Metal magic. Kirk Windstein is a true legend of heavy metal, and the oldest member of the band did what he does best. Matt Brunson on guitars, Pat Bruders on the bass, and Tommy Buckley on the drums presented fan favorites like “All I Had (I Gave)”, “Planets Collide”, and “The Cemetery Angels”. Sanguisugabogg was next with absolute destruction. With mutilated body parts all over the stage and performing songs like “Dead as Shit” and “Dragged by a Truck”, they delivered what the fans were looking for. To everyone's surprise, Aaron Heard from Jesus Piece joined them for the song “Face Ripped Off”. The band has been able to create a niche fan base for them, and it was visible with continuous crowdsurfers and a mosh pit. Devin on vocals absolutely crushed each song, with Drew and Cody on the guitars, Dustin on the bass, and Mike on the drums. Finally, it was time for the final act - Dying Fetus. The three-part band - John Gallagher on vocals and guitar, Sean Beasley on vocals and bass, and Trey Williams on the drums delivered no nonselse pure Death metal music. The band is one of the icons of the Brutal Death Metal subgenre and proves why they are so relevant after 35 years. The fans, consisting of different age groups, proved the point. For the setlist of the night, they performed songs from all 9 albums. The setlist contained songs like “One Shot, One Kill”, “Justifiable Homicide”, “Your Treachery Will Die with You”. Overall, it was a night of pure heavy metal music, and I am sure the fans were fully satisfied. We highly recommend catching them live at a venue near you.
