The #1 Hot New Band’s (A.K.A. Hot Mulligan / Hot Mully) latest album “The Body Makes a Sound When It’s Still” was released on August 22nd, 2025 via Wax Bodega Records. In total contrast to the ridiculous song names on the album (Ex. “Slumdog Scungillionaire”, “Monster Burger and a 5$ Beer” and my personal favorite “Monica Lewinskibidi”) TBMASWIS portrays an overarching theme about grieving, not only after death but also before. The two most blatant songs displaying these themes being “Monica Lewinskibidi” and “My Dad Told Me to Write a Nice One For Nana So This Is It.” With the lyrics “I’m sitting in a parking lot, you’re lying in your grave” and “There's no saint like you, There's no way I'd part with you” blatantly portraying grief.
To accompany their new album. Hot Mully went on a global tour, Hitting 4 out of 7 continents in 2026. During the last leg of the tour, Hot Mully brought not only themselves but Koyo, S@YP ,and Joyce Manor along to the Stone Pony on June 16th. After Joyce Manor finished playing “Constant Headache” and took their leave, Hot Mully took the stage with the sun setting behind them. Once they had begun, there was no stop in sight. The crowd was vying for the barrier, being the most tightly packed 4000~ people I’ve seen. Accompanied by multiple pits, crowd surfing and screaming along to Tades and Chris.(Fun Fact! Tades can scream up to around a B4, which is insane.) Hot Mully concluded the night with a one song encore of “How Do You Know it’s Not Armadillo shells?” off of their sophomore album “Pilot”.
