Anyone in the hardcore scene (both local and mainstream) knows that it was a Turnstile summer as the band kicked off their North American tour in Philadelphia on Friday, September 19th, 2025. A big question arises: Is there still room in the hardcore scene for the pioneers? My answer is yes. I remember watching Madball on MTV 2 back in the late 90’s and early 2000. They were a bunch of young men from New York with a story to tell. Now fast forward 25 years later Madball is still a driving force in the hardcore scene and has rightfully earned their place as one of the greats. As I was on stage at the church, it’s safe to say Madball has a safe space in Philadelphia. From stage diving to hardcore dancing, it was such a full circle moment to see fans both young and old show up for Madball. As Turnstile's summer comes to an end, and as much as I love to see new age hardcore gain popularity, bands like Madball will always be in our hearts and in our music rotation.
