It was a legendary night in PNC Bank Arts Center in NJ on September 8th when Pantera, one of the greatest heavy metal bands of all time, performed. It was a global affair because accompanying them were Swedish Metal giants Amon Amarth and Australian grindcore band King Parrot. It all started with King Parrot and their immense energy on stage. Matthew Young knows how to interact with fans, and they loved it. The raw sound of the band was what set them apart, and the setlist consisted of some great numbers, like “Shit on the Liver” and “Bozo”.
The stage was set up with Viking horns and two giant-sized Viking figures on two sides of the stage, that indicated the arrival of the great Amon Amarth. It was a spectacular performance with smokes, Vikings fighting on stage, Big flags etc. At one point, Johan Hegg, the vocalist, brought a hammer on stage. Amon Amarth is known for putting up a visual experience, and fans were not disappointed. Olavi Mikkonen and Johan Söderberg on guitars, Ted Lundström on the Bass, and Jocke Wallgren on drums, along with Johan on the vocals, performed hits after hit like “Twilight of the Thunder God”, “Raise Your Horns”, and “Guardians of Asgaard”.
Finally, the stage was cleared for the final act - Legendary Pantera. Phil Anselmo on Vocals and Red Brown on the Bass, the original members of the band, and supporting them are two of the greatest names of heavy metal - Zakk Wylde on the Guitars and Charlie Benante on the drums. The true star studded stage with pyro in the background became more legendary with the iconic songs they performed - “I’m Broken”, “Cowboys from Hell”, “Walk”, “Fucking Hostile”, and many more. Fans were singing the songs word by word. Who would have thought that we would get to witness Phill playing guitar, and even that happened. It was pure nostalgia for everyone, and with each song, it proved why these are some of the iconic numbers of all time. It was great to see the brothers - Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell on the two Bass Drums. Overall, it was an amazing night for any metal lovers and kudos to the organizers, management, and the venuw for the successful execution.
