Catbird Music Festival had a grand opening on August 19 - 20, 2023. With some of the big names of music featured during the 2 days, the festival’s one USP was it was located at the historic fields of the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts - this is where the “1969 Woodstock” took place. We were present on the first day of Aug 19th and the weather did not disappoint us at all. There were two stages, The Gala Music Stage was located right next to the main entrance, and the Main Stage which is the Bethel Woods Center of the Arts stage. The day started with Johnnyswim at the main stage and the following performances were arranged really well between the 2 stages so that it does not overlap much. James Bay was next on the main stage - though it was a bit early performance, a lot of the fans showed up to see him. Margo Price was next on the main stage who put up a great show with her band - her presence on stage was something to look for. next up we say 49 Winchester perform at the gala stage - the country group knows how to rock. There were bubble guns spraying bubbles from the audience to create a nice atmosphere. We then saw Trampled by Turtles perform on the main stage. The folk rock band creates music that is nuanced with the incorporation of Cello, Violin, Mandolin, and Banjo. Up next it was Band of Horses and they just rocked the stage. Next on the main stage was The War on Drugs - the indie rock band from Philly has got a big fanbase and the bad just shows why everyone loves the music that blends the essence of different genres. Finally, the stage was set for the final act - The Lumineers. What energy each of the band members has - the music was touching everyone’s hearts and that was only possible because you could see each of the band members performing from the core of their hearts. They performed all of their biggest hits like - “Cleopatra”, “Ophelia”, “Stubborn Love” and “Ho Hey”. The opening day of the first year of the festival was a grand success - I am sure everyone will be looking forward to the upcoming years. Finally kudos to the organizers and management for the great execution.
