A nu-metal band from New Delhi – that is how you describe Bloodywood. But to be honest, that is still not enough to explain how the band is unique in their musical style – they blend rap, metalcore, with Punjabi music, accompanied by Dhol (a quintessential Indian Drum). The band is touring North America and the name of the tour is “System of a Brown” – on May 5th, the stop was in Philly at TLA. They are accompanied by – The Pretty Wild, Ladrones, and Ankor for this tour as the opening acts. Bloodywood came on stage at around 9:30 PM. Before that, they played some Indian regional music to pay homage, and that definitely set the tone. The audience was ready for them and shouting their name. The devastation began from the get-go, and the crowd surfers did not stop. It was really interesting to see the non – Indian fans singing not only the English lyrics but the Punjabi/ Hindi lyrics too. That clearly shows why the Metal community is so welcoming to all the cultures – all they need is good music. Karan on guitar, Jayant and Raoul on vocals, Roshan on the Bass, Vishesh on the drums, and Sarthak on the dhol literally took the energy of the room to the roof. The band definitely knows how to communicate with its fans after each song. When Karan took the flute for 2 of the songs, the vibe in the room was on a different level. The setlist consisted of all of their hits like “Danadan”, “Nu Delhi”, “Bekhauf” (the one that featured Baby Metal), and “Machi Bhasad”. We highly suggest catching them live at one of their shows or at all the major festivals where they are performing. Finally, a big shoutout to the management, organizers, and the venue for the successful execution of the show.
